Photos from Bahama expedition Peter Mowell

Please see story about the 1860 Peter Mowell ship wreck, here.

The archaeological dive, July / August 2012, was a joint venture between the Antiquities, Monuments & Museum Corporation of The Bahamas; the Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Society; and Atlantic Sea Resources.

The slave ship, Peter Mowell, wrecked in July 1860. Most of the 400 Africans aboard survived, were rescued, and eventually integrated into the Bahama population.

The first set of photos record aspects of the recent dive to recover artifacts.
